Welcome to the ima J22 sailing team
 ima heading to j22 Worlds October 9, 2011 in New Orleans. Over 100 boats will compete in this years event. Team IMA is excited to get down there and start sailing. This will be a scouting mission as they prepare for their 2013 Worlds campaign. Stay tunnel for more news and updates.

The team is based around the "grass roots" idea of developing
the ima team/crew from non-experienced
sailors and teaching them the fundamentals of sailing as well as
competitive racing. The idea is to have fun while promoting the
ima brand around the country.
The First Step
The first step in this endeavor was to find a boat that would fit
into our budget and that with a little love and care could bring
back to an almost new condition. After doing a quick search on "google"
we found the perfect used boat at the Austin Yacht Club just waiting
to get back into the action. The 1984 J22 (USA 276) was in great
shape. It only had one owner who took very good care of her. The
exciting thing is, we picked her up for $5000 dollars. We couldn't
believe our good fortune.
What Lies Ahead
Even though the boat didn't need much work we decided to do a full
restoration. New Awlgrip
topside/deck, new hardware and running rigging
as well as a new shiny ima decals for
the hull. Here's
restoration.
Now that the restoration is complete we are searching for our motivated
ima crew and will be off training and racing
in the years to come. We are sure it will be quite a learning curve
but hey...what a great way to enjoy the year and help get the word
