The ima J22
This section will follow the complete restoration of the
ima j22 sailboat. We pick up USA 276 for $5000 at the Austin
Yacht Club on August 8th, 2003. We should note that the temperature
that day was 111 degrees, an all time high for Austin. Special thanks
go out to Matt and John Bartlett of Bartlett
Sails for helping get USA 276 on a make shift tailer in a raging
thunder storm.
After doing an aggressive cleaning and polishing the boat did start
to shine up nicely. But, the amount of work to get it there was
just too much so we decided to do a full restoration on the bottom
and top with Awlgrip.
This would bring the hull back to a perfect glossy shine and ready
